Dell Latitude E3

Geode Language | 2010

Led the strategic arm in developing a new business notebook design language that recognized the shifts in workplace technology and the new generation of working professionals. I developed a comprehensive design strategy which guided the internal team of 8 designers and researchers in creating the next generation scalable design language for Dell’s highest selling line of notebooks. We delivered 12 enterprise class notebook platforms from design strategy through OEM manufacturing. In addition to leading the strategic design effort from initial concepts through RFQ specification, I implemented the two ultra-mobile platforms to tool release with intensive engineering and manufacturing collaboration.

Our strategy was to create a professional, purpose-built device focused on durable construction techniques with enduring materials. Investing where it mattered, we developed a multi slide casting technique for the solid magnesium alloy frame, exposing it as a key design element rather than covering it with more decorative materials. Guided by functional material usage, we created higher levels of design and durability at a competitive cost.
